Create an Online
Campus
How can I create my own campus?
Eufrates.com will host your online campus on our Windows NT server.
For a single monthly charge, we provide the server, software, and technical
support to create a reliable and friendly educational experience for your
community.
There are no software upgrade charges, maintenance, or consulting charges.
We collect the fees for your course registrations, and then pay you an
agreed percentage. This keeps your cost of ownership lower and lets the
traffic pay for itself as it grows.
You are in charge of the publishing of the courses. You also retain
all rights to your courses and course materials. Your authors upload their
courses to the site, and then your administrators turn it into a 'live'
course. You can customize your site to add the logos and images that make
it conform to your organization's needs. We have also added the use of
style sheets, which will allow your organization to fully customize the
look and feel of your campus. The style sheet can be easily customized
with the use of our included style sheet editor.
How hard is it to create courses?
You create a course by making course sections, called modules, with
our module creator program that runs under Windows 95, 98, Nt, 2000, Me
or XP. Then you upload the modules to the Eufrates server. Each module
consists of pages. Each page is usually an image with text, questions and
answers, and an optional audio recording.
If you are starting from a Microsoft PowerPoint® presentation, it's
easy to export the slide images as 400 by 300 JPG image files. Then build
each page around a single slide image. Add the text description or discussion
of the slide. Make up one or more questions for the page. Then upload the
completed module.
If you are creating your courses from Microsoft Word®, you can easily
transfer an entire document into the Eufrates Course Module Designer using
a simple macro that we include.
Eufrates links all the pages, images, audio, and questions together
to make a complete course module.
You don't have to start with slide images, you can use any JPG file,
or even use plain text. There is also a function called "Autocapture" which
will allow you to automatically import any image on the clipboard into
your course. Basically, this means that you can easily create screenshots
of a program, or create pictures from any program that runs on your computer.
You can download the module creator and try it yourself. There's also
a web-based help file to show you how it works.
